Colheitas or Single Harvest Ports such as Kopke or Barros would make an excellent alternative for port lovers and newcomers alike.
Overproduction and decling quality caused Frascati's reputation to take a nose-dive. Now, however, the classic Roman white looks set for a revival. There is a theory that, when it comes to wine, the only kind of history that counts is that to do with buying and selling.
On the palate there is more of the same, but a pleasing autolysis rounds it out and the finish is quite savoury. It has a lovely peachy softness about the nose, with aromas of apple-sauce and some herbal nuances. On the palate the flavours are bready and rich with a mouthfilling mousse and texture and a long, just off-dry finish.
Pictures can be requested before shipment. Blackberry and currants follow through to a medium-bodied palate, with fine tannins and a fresh, fruity aftertaste. Excellent depth of crimson.
